I love wearing a red dress…either for a black tie wedding, date nigh with Tom or cocktail party red is my go-to color. I remember when I first attended my first black tie event in Chicago and seeing a sea of black dresses…I couldn’t understand why. Yes, black is a classic timeless color and during the winter season it goes with the weather and mood but you could alway count on the fact I would be wearing a bright red dress. The best accessory whenever a red dress is your confidence and perhaps a pair of Spanx…haha I’m serious. A few personal tips from my experience on how to wear a red dress with confidence are:
- Keep the accessories to a minimum: the red color is bold and eye catching and keeping the accessories to a minimum will keep you looking classic and elegant.
- Simple hair: I always like to do a simple messy bun or natural waves as seen above. Again keep the attention to the dress and keep everything else simple.
- Spanx: Okay…I’m being honest here…I’m wearing a pair of Spanx on these pictures. I feel more comfortable wearing them whenever I’m wearing a “tighter” than usual dress. I feel they keep everything in the right place.
- Most important tip of them all…wear what you feel comfortable with. I love the way the red color looks against my tan skin but if you don’t think red is your color then thats fine too. The most important rule is knowing what looks best on you!
I hope you can find these tips useful and please don’t hesitate to ask me about any of the outfits I’ve worn! This Badly Mischka off-the-shoudler dress is perfect for your next summer cocktail party. The material is extremely strerchy and comfortable. The neckline and sleeves details are feminie and delicate and definitely a fun way to stand out from the crowd…(if that’s what you are looking for). Below I’m sharing my favorite red dresses for this summer season with all of you. Let me know which one is your favorite!
