This post is dedicated to my friend Rachel! As we discussed our future travel schedule over lunch the topic of swimsuits came up. Rachel has a beautiful 3 months old baby girl and mentioned she was in the market for new a new one piece swimsuit. I instantly jumped in and gave her my suggestions as this is one of my favorite trends this summer. Over the past year (as you can here, here and here) all I’ve worn are one piece swimsuits! I find them to be comfortable, classic and elegant and a change from the typical bikini. So let’s break it down…what do you look for when shopping for a new swimsuit? Have you worn a one piece swimsuit before? Personally I look for a one piece that has molded cups to get extra support on the chest area. I also like a one piece that shows off some skin but not too much…keeping it playful and classic. I know it’s hard to shop for swimsuits online but I would recommend ordering a few brands in your regular size, trying them on until you find the brand that suits you best.

To make it easier for all of you I’ve divided the one piece swimsuit trend into four different categories.

Conservative: Classic and timeless colors such as black, navy and white with with a high neckline, pieces that can be worn year after year. I love the classic cut from Karla Colletto, also available in red.

Summer flare: Pineapple or tropical palm print or swimsuits that say a catchy summer slogan, I called these swimsuits “summer flare.” They are playful, summery and eye catching. I love this summer print one!

Sexy with a twist: Open back, low v-neck or a Brazilian cut bottom…these swimsuits are perfect for your next beach getaway with your significant other!

High-End ($300)+: Swimsuits can vary from $50 to $350! That being said I’ve tried them all, swimsuits from Forever 21 and swimsuits from VIX and all I would say is…for the cheaper ones I hated that the material stretched out in the water. That being said you have some great brands and options on the $80 – $150 range. The options below are consider “high-end” and I am slightly obsessed with this one

Thank you so much for reading and I hope everyone has a great weekend ahead. If you have any question regarding the options above feel free to send me an email, happy to help!

That’s a great post!! I wish I had read that before I bought my swimsuits for my recent Hawaii trip! Finding the right swimsuits is just so hard especially when you can’t try them on from all these online retailers.

And the view of the pool is insane…

I’ve never had a super high end swimsuit but I love my mid range ones. I agree – cheap suits are no fun in the water. Thank you for including some more modest choices too! I don’t know how some women keep the more sexy ones in place. Lol!
